2024 Cardinal Baseball Camp Coaching Staff

​Mike Mora, Director
Mike has been the Director of Cardinal Baseball Camp since 2002.  Certified in special education and physical education, and Health Education, Mike is in his 23rd year as a teacher with the Greenwich Public Schools. He was chosen as the FCIAC Baseball Coach and Greenwich Time Coach of the Year in 2004, and FCIAC Baseball Coach of the Year again in 2010 and 2012. During the 2011 Season, the GHS Baseball Program received the Umpire’s Sportsmanship Award. In 2012, the GHS Varsity team went 20-0 in the regular season, and the league honored Mike as the FCIAC’s Spring Sports Coach of the Year. He was the Assistant Baseball Coach at Manhattan College (Division I) for two years, while he studying for his Master’s Degree.
Playing career: GHS class of 1990 All-FCIAC and All-State honors in football and baseball, GHS Baseball Captain 1989 & 1990. University of Vermont (Division I) class of 1994: selected as All-New England Division I player 1993 & 1994. UVM Baseball team Captain and MVP 1994. Inducted into UVM Hall of Fame in 2008.
Professional experience: Played six years of minor league ball, with the Lancaster Scouts (1994), Albany Diamond Dogs (1995-1997), Adirondack Lumberjacks (1998), and Quebec Les Capitales (1999).


​Alexyss Conley (softball Coach/Coordinator)

Currently the new Head Coach of the Greenwich Varsity Softball Team while previously being the JV Head Coach for the past 2 seasons. Alexyss provides extensive knowledge in the game of softball. She attended college at Springfield College in Massachusetts while studying Physical Education and Health. While at Springfield, Alexyss was a four-year starter playing shortstop and a two year captain her junior and senior year. Some rewards she received during her time at Springfield are Maroon Club Athlete of the Week, back-to-back NEWMAC Athlete of the Week, NEWMAC First Team All-Conference, and I finished her senior year being a Top 20 Athlete of 2020. 

"My goal in life is to create a positive environment in young athletes and help them develop confidence in what they do on and off the field. I am very passionate about softball and I am excited to make a difference in young athletes' lives"

John Woodring
John, a former linebacker for the New York Jets, has been a member of the Cardinal Baseball Camp staff for seventeen years. He taught fourth grade for seventeen years and is in his ninth year of third grade at Tokeneke Elementary School in Darien. John’s coaching experience includes five years with the GYFL (Cos Cob Crushers), seven years with Norwalk Youth Football, nine years with the Cal Ripken Major and Minor League baseball program (ages 9 – 12), six years Rookie baseball (ages 7 – 8), four years Cos Cob T-ball (ages 4 – 6), four years GBA, one year Norwalk Biddy Basketball, and five years with Greenwich Parks and Recreation soccer. Finally, he is currently a 13U coach for the Greenwich Cannons baseball program (third year) and a varsity football coach at Greenwich High School (eighth year). His experience and energy make him a valued member of our staff, and he can work well with all age groups. John is passionate about sports, but knows how important it is for kids to have fun while playing. His positive energy comes through in all that he does.
